For urban hiker it is perfect too, every place are walking distance.
You will find all you need on the block: bookshop, bakery trade, newspapers stall, cheese dairy, butchery, fishmonger's, supermarkets, cafes with different style hip, local, bobo (leftist burgesy), young peoples or dirty too (very good for ethnology).
In the neighborhood, you will enjoyed : the "Canal St Martin" & the "Canal de l'Ourq" with shops, bars, restaurants, movies, the "Parc de la Villette" for outdoors activities & the "Cite de la musique" & "Cite des Sciences" museums, the famous XIXth century park Eastern Downtown Paris "Buttes Chaumont", & a lot of structure for doing sport. Our district is a delicate balance between among of social class. We do have also a lot of cacher groceries.
